Pillar New Testament Commentary

[PNTC]

Purpose & Scope
The Pillar New Testament Commentary [PNTC] is specifically designed for those students of Scripture who believe that the study of the text is critical for understanding the Bible correctly. Therefore, this series is an exegetical commentary which, though oriented to the NIV, adjudicates all questions on the basis of the Greek text. Historical and social data attendant to the text round out each volume. This is an extremely accessible and readable resource for students and pastors.

". . . The Pillar New Testament Commentary, designed for serious readers of the Bible, seeks above all to make clear the meaning of the text of Scripture as we have it. Writers of the volumes interact with the most important, informed contemporary debate yet avoid undue technical detail. Their ideal is a blend of rigorous exegesis and exposition, scholarship and pastoral sensitivity, with an eye alert both to biblical theology and to the contemporary relevance of the Bible. Undertaken to provide earnest students of the New Testament with an exposition that is thorough and abreast of modern scholarship this series at the same time remains loyal to the Scriptures as the infallible Word of God."
- D.A. Carson

Current Status: The series currently includes 15 volumes and is only lacking Galatians, Ephesians, 1 Peter, and Revelation.
