I bought about 40 of these books and gave them to my neighbors. I thought it was a great way to share the love of Christ with those around me. God Bless !

I was really happy with this purchase. Bought a couple and gave it out to friends at Christmas and oh my were they happy with it. It is a small booklet but filled with so much insight and truth about what Christmas really is. I highly recommend this book :)

I've always liked Max's writings. I was looking for a gift for our congregation and had really enjoyed his other book about Christmas "God Came Near". My hope was this would be similar to that book. I was wrong. Unfortunately Max decides to tackle the story of the woman who washes Jesus feet with her hair. Although I understand the concept of whoever is forgiven more, loves more; Max uses some rather shocking words in description of the prostitute in Simon's house. On p 11-18 words like "whore" are used and lingering descriptions of the type of woman she was were a little unnerving. Again, nothing wrong with the concept of love and forgiveness, but if you are planning on buying this for your congregation. Someone might have problems with the language used here. I know it took me aback when I first read it. This was going to be a Christmas gift to our congregation, sadly due to this language I would run the risk of offending someone. Which is not the desired effect for a congregational gift.

The word breaks yoke, therefore opening oneself to God's word at Christmas is rewarding enough to break yokes, and set one free from the oppression of ignorance. This book speaks conviction and sheds light on how to exit captivity, but only in a few words.
