"Double Take" is a romantic suspense. Lainie feels like a victim and a door mat. Her family's a mess, with her mother having a mental illness and her siblings wanting nothing to do with their parents. She wanted a normal family so badly that she initially overlooked how her fiance started to treat her. When she dumped him, he tried to kill her. She's finally recovering from that trauma when she suddenly sees Adam again. She's certain it must be someone who looks like him, only, every trace of his death is being erased. Why? Who is this man, or is it possible Adam actually survived?

James' father refused to talk with him after James became a police officer, so he had his own family problems to work through. He and his partner investigated Lainie's case while keeping her safe. The high suspense came from the deadly danger to Lainie. The main characters were capable, likable people who reacted realistically to events. James built Lainie up and showed her that she's a fighter, not a victim. They worked well together. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting story.

Great Suspense That Kept Me Guessing, Great Characters!

Lainie is witty, has regular faults plus dealing with PTSD from an abusive situation that ended badly. Along with her childhood crush, James, he tries to keep her safe. Protection as a cop stretches him to his limit in this tale of phenomenal proportions.

The suspense had me on the edge of my seat through the entire story and I was barely able to take a breath before something else blindsided me. Double Take is a story not to be missed. It was non-stop action from the beginning.

I received an ARC from the author and voluntarily chose to review it. A positive is not required and all opinions are my own.

All I can say is "Wow"!! When a book begins, "The man who professed to love her only hours before was lining the barrel up for his shot", you know you have to read this story. Not only does the first chapter grab you, then the next chapter has you wondering who is stalking Lainie 18 months later - a look-alike killer or her ex-fiance, who is dead. Or is he? The characters and their friendship along with the tracking down of clues to figure out this puzzle are just two of the ingredients to this captivating suspense story. Sometimes I felt like I couldn't read fast enough to find out what would happen next. I received an advance copy from the publisher but all opinions are my own.

Lynette Eason is a fabulous suspense writer. The characters are well developed. There's a good plot. The action is intense. It's hard to put the book down. It's a great read no matter what you're looking for.

I liked both Lainie and James. They have known each other for years but James finally notices her as an adult woman after she helps him in the hospital. When things keep happening to Lainie, he's determined to protect her no matter the cost to himself. I like series that have a solid friend or work group and this one fits that bill. I can't wait to read more about Kenzie and Cole.

Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

James Cross has been honorably discharged from the Army and is now working as a police detective. He meets Physician Assistant Lainie Jackson after he is shot while rescuing a child. Lainie is recovering from having to kill her ex fianc when he was trying to kill her. The problem is that she keeps seeing him and he wants her dead. Both James and Lainie suffer from PTSD from their past experiences. As James and Lainie work to discover if Adam is really alive and who wants her dead, they discover that they have feelings for each other.

This is a great read and I recommend this book.
