Families are one of God's most precious gifts and Hannah Hall has provided a new board book to introduce that concept at a very early age. From brothers and sisters to grandparents to aunts and uncles and cousins, each are mentioned in this short easy to read book for young children.

Anyone who follows my blog knows I love board books because of their durability and the fact that little hands can turn the pages without threat of being damaged. This softly padded book is no exception.

Steve Whitlow, as illustrator, used precious little puppies as the characters. While the looks of each set of puppies changes with the turning of each page, I still think this book perfect for a third child, particularly one that has an older brother and sister since both are mentioned in the story and this will allow the child to related a bit better.

I did receive this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review and was in no way obligated to write a positive one. Great value and a fun way to talk about how each family member is related and how precious they are to one "big heart".

From uncles and aunts to grandparents,

We're each so glad to be

A special part of one big heart-

    God bless my whole family!

God Bless My Family is written by Hannah C. Hall and illustrated by Steven Whitlow. This is an adorable cushioned, hard covered, board book that shows us puppies with their families having fun. The families enjoy a day at the beach, snuggle together, play together, go for walks, tell stories, and bake together. The pictures in this book are so beautiful and colorful, they will keep the youngest of child interested for some time.

I just love this little children's book. It is very durable and easy to clean, to keep it nice longer. This book is the perfect length to read to a young child. The story is told in rhyme and the font is larger than normal for the young reader. The beautiful pictures have little things such as apples, balls, and birds for little children to pick out. This is a book that I feel any family with young children of all ages will enjoy. This book would make a wonderful Christmas gift.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through BookLook Bloggers. This is my honest review.

There's nothing like puppies to take away the blues. For the past week as we all recovered from The Plague, we watched a lot of TV and read a lot of books to little G. This new one is so sweet. As G gets older, I realize how significant the content of books is for her growing mind! It's so important to me to have wholesome and faith-filled messages. I want her first impressions of faith to be joyful, warm, and loving-- just like her Heavenly Father is. This book is a great one for that. Each page there are different pictures of "puppy families" and words describing the blessings of different family members-- aunts, cousins, brothers, mothers, and so on. It's very cute to see the different dog breeds and the different activities they are doing (baking a cake, racing outside, etc.). My only cautions with this book would be that 1) not everyone may have or be close to all the members mentioned (sister or brother, even grandma or grandpa), and 2) some of the descriptions are stereotypical and a child might wonder why their aunt doesn't bake or their sister doesn't play dress up. Probably miniscule things, but just keeping it real. Other than that, we're thrilled to have it on our bookshelf. 4.5 stars.
